My husband and I are a young, growing, Christian, military family. My husband is a Captain in The United States Marine Corps. I am a former Elementary school teacher. We are first time parents to a beautiful little two year old boy, with twin boys on the way! I am a stay at home Marine wife, who loves to bake, cook, sew and craft! I enjoy being a Domestic Engineer. The purpose of this blog is to document the story of our life and adventures as they take place.


We are honored to be serving our country and ask for prayer in our upcoming adventures. We have been blessed tremendously, and thank God everyday for all he has given us!

Teach Me Tuesday For The Mamas


It's 7:00 p.m on Tuesday evening, my little one is sound asleep in his own toddler bed, ( second week sleeping in the toddler bed through the night . . . Praise God!!!).  So things are good!

  Ahh a little time to myself!

Today, we met Auntie Summer, (my BEST friend for 20 years, ha ha love saying that!) for lunch!

Ha ha, okay so looking back over this post and this particular photo, I happened to notice the expression on the guy's face in the background . . . lol! Sorry Mr. Whoever you are,  I should have chosen a more flattering photo of you. :) Oh well, Summer and Robbie look pretty cute . . . don't ya' think?


I haven't posted a Teach Me Tuesday in so long, so here we go . . .

Today I have been doing some thinking about motherhood and what a HUGE responsibility and privilege it truly is.  


A dear friend of mine recently said to me ; "sometimes we need to be lineage breakers". As a mother, it is my responsibility to become a "sifter" for my children. Just like following a recipe, when you are told to sift the flour. This means to adapt or ponder which familiar or tribal rules, fallacies and / or methodologies that our parents and their parents before them have handed down to us for child rearing. 

Though my family is still small, my goal / aim as a mother is to be well aware of following Biblical teachings of child rearing. I have spent many years in college and  years in various occupations such as a nanny, educator, waitress and dental assistant.  From my personal experience, I believe the most difficult, responsible, privileged and eternally important job is being a mother and homemaker.

 I know I will probably receive some guff and comments, but I must share this. A fellow Marine wife posted this today on her Facebook and I feel it should be shared. 

Mind you, the husband in this equation must be a Christian, Bible reading, God -centered man for this concept to work in full balance. 





After studying the wife's position in the diagram above, I was made aware of the importance of my career as a wife and mother. 

The following is an excerpt from a book I have recently ordered.

"As mothers we need to equip our children well to do the work the Lord has assigned for each of them to do. We must diligently teach scripture, we must teach godly character, we must teach love for the Lord and the lost without growing discouraged ourselves (oh my, isn’t this a hard one sometimes?) for we have the Masters work at hand, an honorable and momentous responsibility!...

We must remember that our lasting influence impacts future generations through our children, our grandchildren and great grandchildren whether for good or for evil. Which are you raising for the Lord? Descendants who could be an army to take the world by storm or descendants who build up alters to false gods? 


We must revive the vision of multigenerational faithfulness! We cannot change our homes through the efforts of our flesh---it comes from grace and power from Christ alone---but we are required to do our part. We cannot fall short of this glorious vocation because our Lord has called us to it--and where He calls us to, we must obey.

Now in honor of those faithful mothers who have come before us, who have sacrificed their lives, gave unselfishly, wept in the dark to the Savior and persevered to the end---we applaud you. You have paved the way for us behind you! The Lord has used you as a mighty instrument in His hand and you are surely called blessed among your children. Your dedication has a lasting power that is the sweet aroma of Jesus Christ.

God undeniably uses the weak to shame the strong. He also uses ordinary people, you and I, to help reclaim the vision for motherhood and build a godly nation for Him."


So it is my life's work and ambition to strive to be a Godly wife and Mother, a pillar of strength with wisdom from the Lord,  a teacher, a fixer, a hugger and listener, for this little one and however many the Lord blesses us with in the future.
