We thank you for taking the time to visit our blog.

My husband and I are a young, growing, Christian, military family. My husband is a Captain in The United States Marine Corps. I am a former Elementary school teacher. We are first time parents to a beautiful little two year old boy, with twin boys on the way! I am a stay at home Marine wife, who loves to bake, cook, sew and craft! I enjoy being a Domestic Engineer. The purpose of this blog is to document the story of our life and adventures as they take place.

We are honored to be serving our country and ask for prayer in our upcoming adventures. We have been blessed tremendously, and thank God everyday for all he has given us!

I'm Planning A Party . . . and other Tuesday Happenings

If you have been reading my blog for quite sometime now,
then you know that I love to host and plan themed parties!
I had a blast with my military girlfriends in Florida with a
Julia Child Party, wine themed parties, ladies teas and
cowboy First birthday party for Robert.

Well, this coming Sunday, I am hosting another themed party.
Can you guess the theme from the invitation?

That's right . ..  I am having a Downton Abbey Party!!!!!!!!!

Okay, so a quick synopsis on Downton Abbey for those of you who don't watch the show... and if you don't, may I recommend that you MUST!!

If you enjoy British literature and quick witty banter you will love this show!
Lord Crawley sees his family heritage, especially the grand country home Downton Abbey, as his mission in life. The death of his heir aboard the Titanic means distant cousin Matthew Crawley, a Manchester lawyer, suddenly is next in line and accepts moving onto the vast estate with his even more modernist, socially engaged mother, who clashes with his lordship's domineering, conservative ma the dowager. Marrying off the daughters is another concern. Meanwile the butler presides over a staff which serves the family but also lead most of their entire lives in the servants quarters, intriguing amongst themselves.

Entertain Downton Abbey style,

I am just tickled pink to be doing this party!

Dresses from the set of Downton Abbey - clothes were so dreamy then.

I get lost in the beauty and elegance of the clothing worn on Downton Abbey!
How to get Downton Abbey style; this would make for some cute vintage bridesmaids

And speaking of beautiful Edwardian Style  . . . I am in LOVE with this hat!

This cloche is tres Downton Abbey.

My Mom is hosting with me and we have invited 10 of our girlfriends to dress-up, drink tea and go back in time for an afternoon in England! I will be sure to blog all about our party on Sunday.
This afternoon I posed for a photo for an article on my blog that The Junior League of Pasadena is featuring. Here is the photo of me in the kitchen with some of my favorite league cookbooks!

I'm trying a new toddler recipe tonight that I found on Pinterest. I am a sneaky Mama on a mission to cram in as many veggies in one meal as I can. :) Will let you know how it turns out, but if you are interest here it is!

Toddler Veggie Packed Mac & Cheese

macaroni and cheese

Max out the mac potential by dishing out nutritious whole-grain macaroni enriched (up nutrients even more by looking for one with omega-3 essential fatty acids added). When it comes to the sauce, bypass the boxed cheese powder (and its scary list of additives) to make your own by melting cheese with whole or low-fat milk and a tiny bit of butter. Want some extra probiotic and protein goodness in this go-to toddler meal? Stir in Greek yogurt instead of milk and butter (it's even creamier than regular yogurt). You can also add in pureed tofu for protein and iron, or toss in pureed (or minced) cooked cauliflower or butternut squash to sneak in another serving of veggies.
Peas are another addition typically well received by the high-chair set.
That is it for today dear ones!
Blessings,
