Thankful Thursday

It's Thursday again and time for another round of Thankful Thursdays. Today, I am thinking about my savior Jesus Christ. Today in history represents Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday. It is observed during Holy week on the Thursday before Easter. Maundy Thursday commemorated the last supper when Jesus shared the Passover meal with all of his disciples the night before he was crucified on Good Friday.

Two important events took place on Maundy Thursday. First, the passover meal or last supper. This is where Jesus washed the feet of all his disciples. This was considered a humbling act of service. The Bible describes this as being a way that Jesus showed his disciples "the full extent of his love." John 13:1 . This was Jesus' example of showing how Christians need to love one another through humble service.

During this passover meal Jesus took a loaf of bread and wine and asked his Father God to bless it. Jesus broke the bread into pieces, giving it to his disciples and said; "This is my body, given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.: Then Jesus took the cup of wine, shared it with his disciples and said; "This wine is the token of God's new covenant to save you- an agreement sealed with the blood I pour out to you."

Today I am thankful for my Savior who was betrayed, brutally beaten and hung on the cross all for me. So that I could have a chance to live for Him! I thank you Jesus for the ultimate sacrifice. Today, I am thinking of you.
