We thank you for taking the time to visit our blog.

My husband and I are a young, growing, Christian, military family. My husband is a Captain in The United States Marine Corps. I am a former Elementary school teacher. We are first time parents to a beautiful little two year old boy, with twin boys on the way! I am a stay at home Marine wife, who loves to bake, cook, sew and craft! I enjoy being a Domestic Engineer. The purpose of this blog is to document the story of our life and adventures as they take place.

We are honored to be serving our country and ask for prayer in our upcoming adventures. We have been blessed tremendously, and thank God everyday for all he has given us!

Lessons In Homeschool

We are well into our second week of homeschool/preschool curriculum. Last week was our first week of preschool at home.
 I am combining several different preschool curriculum this year for Mr. Robert.
 One of the curriculum is called; "God's Little Explorers".

This week in Bible, we are learning all about Creation. We read and explored the Bible story of Creation, along with Adam and Eve.

Our letter for the week is; "G", as in Garden. To go along with the theme of creation, we are doing a few garden activities. We are exploring the outdoors through nature hikes, as well as seed and plant exploration.
 Our Bible memory verse this week is;
 " In the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth." Genesis 1:1.

We are learning about God's animals and later in the week we have a field trip planned to the local County Fair to look at all of the farm animals! I am loving homeschool this year! I will admit, I was a little nervous about balancing homeschool lessons with a three year old and tending to two little babies. It can be done and we are all learning and growing as we go!

We have been having fun filled mornings with our new kids praise Cd. After the Bible story for the day has been read, Robbie, the  babies and I dance and sing to the Bible song of the week from this cd...

To go along with the creation theme, this week our Bible song is;
"He's Got The Whole World In His Hands."

Here are a few examples of how we practice Bible memory at our house.

  • say it in different voices… like a teeny mouse, like a giant, like a queen or king, whisper, etc.
  • echo Mom or Mom echoes children
  • make up hand motions
  • say it while stomping, clapping, etc.
  • say it around the table, each person saying the next word
  • say it as a “ticket” to your meal or before going outside
  • learn some of the sign language for the verse

  • My basic objectives for the week :

  • Theme:  ”G” is for Garden
  • Bible Story:  Creation & Adam and Eve in the garden
  • Bible Verse:  In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.  Genesis 1:1
  • Letter:  G
  • Shape:  Square

  • Today we took out our magnifying glass and went on an adventure searching for different types of seeds in the backyard.

     Here is my little explorer investigating the flowers and the dirt with his magnifier.

    " Look Mommy, I found a seed!!"

    We also found an ant in the rose!

    Look at the little seed pod .

    Now we are off to the kitchen to cut open an apple and a red pepper and look at their seeds!

    Here we are placing the seeds we found in a wet paper towel and then into a baggie. We will place the baggie with the seeds in a dark cupboard for 4 or 5 days and we hope our seeds will sprout!
    We found apple seeds, red pepper seeds, sweet pea seeds, an acorn and .
    Now we wait! :)

     We had a good day filled with excitement and learning!
    Blessings,
