We thank you for taking the time to visit our blog.

My husband and I are a young, growing, Christian, military family. My husband is a Captain in The United States Marine Corps. I am a former Elementary school teacher. We are first time parents to a beautiful little two year old boy, with twin boys on the way! I am a stay at home Marine wife, who loves to bake, cook, sew and craft! I enjoy being a Domestic Engineer. The purpose of this blog is to document the story of our life and adventures as they take place.

We are honored to be serving our country and ask for prayer in our upcoming adventures. We have been blessed tremendously, and thank God everyday for all he has given us!

Soup & Salad With The Girls . . . Plus One Little Boy

Earlier this morning, I ran in to Target just for a minute with Robbie to grab a few grocery items. It started out harmless, as most of my trips to Target often do. Well, today I was a great bargain shopper! I found these adorable sandals. I just love the little material puff on the front. Each pair was marked down from $ 19.99 to $ 7.48!! I couldn't pass this deal by.
Which led me to buying both pairs of sandals!

I always run through the clearance clothes section at Target. Often times many of their clothing items are marked down 30%, 40%, 50% even 75% off!

I stumbled upon this little summer shirt. It was originally marked $24.99 and today it was only $9.98. I love it because it is a light linen. It is comfortable enough to wear anywhere, especially chasing after a very busy toddler! Plus, I can dress it up or down depending on the occasion. :)

I'm going thrifting on Saturday, which means I will have to go through my closet and donate a few items that I no longer wear. .  . If something comes into my closet/clothing rotation, something must go out. :)

Dinner With The Gals At Soup Plantation

It has been so hot lately, that eating dinner at our wonderfully air-conditioned Soup Plantation was a real treat.

We had cold crispy salads and Italian sausage soup, tons of veggies, mousse, apple crisp and vanilla ice cream, whew! what a meal, and what GREAT company. My best friend, Summer, her mama, Judy (who is so much fun) and my mom (Gi Gi) all met there for fun and conversation.
Mr. Robbie was pretty well behaved. He met a sweet little boy behind us named, Jacob. who is getting ready to start nursery school this Fall. Robbie loves other children, except he calls them all,  "Baby" even if they are teenagers. LOL! When his speech develops more, we will differentiate with him. After eating bits here and there, Robbie entertained himself with the condiments.

Summer told us about her job and her recipes, and her social life, while Judy told us about her exercise class, knitting class, her travels, her interesting friends, and she got a beautiful new Suzuki Outback!

Judy makes a family calendar every year. She puts pictures of her most recent travels on for each different month, it is fantastic and oh, what a legacy/heirloom for her children! Last year were pictures of beautiful Italy. Her latest calendar is of Mexico.

We love spending time with Summer and Judy. They are loving and kind friends. They also love Robbie very much!
They don't mind that we sometimes dote on him.

We thank God for good friends. The memories we are making will one day be golden within our hearts.
A darling little girl, who I taught 3rd. grade to; came by our table to say hello. She will be entering High school!!!! It was great seeing her and her family. Her mom told me to enjoy every minute with my little Robbie because, "It flys by way too fast!"
Enjoy tonight's full moon. God is on such beautiful display. Psalm 29: 2 comes to mind.
I am missing my Marine tonight. Bless you my darling, and be safe!
Everyday I look forward to an e-mail from Rich. It reminds me of that movie; "You've Got Mail" with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks.
Well friends, I'm off to see if  I've got mail!
Blessings,

So glad you had such a nice evening! You are so wise to realize the value of friends.

Just have to answer with my thoughts about the question of Jesus having fun. Somehow, I think that he did. scripture doesn't really use that word; but we are told about the closeness he had with some disciples, the joy in heaven over one lost sheep being found, the father's happiness with the return of the prodigal son, etc. It seems that Jesus knew love, joy, and that he delighted in spending time with children, the disciples, and others. So that even with his suffering and sorrow, he himself experienced the abundant life and joy that we are promised through him. Just my thoughts....

What ??? Well, I THINK that he could fly. ----Anyway, thanks for some thoughts. I really want Sarah's thoughts -- It was she who wrote the original post.

Making The Most of Each Day said...

First of all Sarah, The main command/request Jesus left us with was LOVE. Besides salvation, which is an unearned gift, we do have a responsibility to love through the Holy Spirit who is quick to guide us to do so.
There are so many different translations/ dialects in which scripture was taught, spoken and written; mainly Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.
Christ had joy, He taught joy, He lived it. Living water-comforter,all in all-complete and utter happiness. He danced, He laughed, He even cooked breakfast while joking with the apostles. He exclaimed joy when the nets were filled with fish. David( a man after God's own heart; danced and sang and wrote Psalms of living, loving and laughter. I could fill pages of Jesus having (fun-English slang of merriment almost foolishness) When King James had the Bible translated, fun was not a word. However, your expression was to equate joy.
We live in such a priviliged passage of time. ANYTHING, any subject we desire to learn about is just at our figer tips. Mankind is without excuse for not knowing God.
Remember, Jesus warned us of demonic forces being active until He comes again.
The intellectual Pharisees of Christ's day, questioned, debated, dissected, and even challenged Jesus constantly; even while their ignorant eyes and hearts saw miracles in front of their own noses.
Lives were changed, the dead rose, people were healed, a yearning for eternity was written upon all hearts. God does not want one to perish, and still!! The Phaisees' pride and skepticism was based NOT on insufficient evidence, (They studied Isaiah's prophesies- it was some 700 years before the Messiah would show up, and the Jews were well rehearsed for His arrival (their version was a guilded King, not God's version of son of man/son of God) The Pharisees even negated their God/our God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob!!!! Their doubt was based PURELY on their JEALOUSY of Jesus' popularity and Deity.
Our grand commission is not only to Evangelize; but to discern. If a student is ready, the Lord loves him enough to bring the proper teacher. Remember though, arguing wastes time for the true seekers.
To learn the homiletics of Jesus, I believe the books of John and Matthew do a swell job.
I recommend reading a Bible with a sincere heart to this blogger of many aliases.
Your MOM,
Robin

Mom, thank you for your Biblical insight. I agree with you! As Christians we are CONSTANTLY under attack, just as the Bible warns us. The following scripture comes to mind:

“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because you are mine. Rejoice and be GLAD, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the Prophets, who were before you." —Matthew 5:10-12
Dear "Michael", "Nuane", "Irma", "Lettie",
"Chic-Fil-A", "Reality" and "Anonymous", since you are all one in the same person.

I have absolutely NOTHING to GAIN or LOSE by responding to your comment. Which is why I believe in answering you truthfully with Biblical wisdom instead of just my thoughts, because you DEFINITELY have shown that you do not care about my thoughts at all!

Do you know what it means to be a lukewarm Christian? Example; lukewarm water makes a disgusting drink. The church in Laodicea, (where the apostle Paul taught) was being chastised by them for being lukewarm. Paul did this, because those who called themselves "believers" did not take a stand for anything; indifference had led them to idleness. By neglecting to do anything for Christ, the church had become hardened and self-satisfied, and it destroyed itself. There is NOTHING more disgusting to God then a half-hearted, in name ONLY Christian who is self-sufficient and doesn't need God.

So my friend, what kind of Christian would I be if I did not answer you with Biblical truth? As the scripture says; " I know your deeds. that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm- neither hot nor cold- I am about to spit you out of my mouth." Revelation 3:16

You are obviously hurting and bitter towards the Lord. It is apparent that my joy and love of the Lord threatens you deeply. I am not offended by your craziness, because I know it is a pitiful cry for help; a deep wound that only Jesus himself can heal.

I want you to know that I am sincerely praying for you my friend. Jesus loves you in spite of the battle you have going on within yourself.
I will pray for all of your many names and one name in particular, who is not mentioned, but who's identity is so clearly obvious!

I do not feel the need to defend myself to you.

I have many readers who are inspired and learn from my blog, as I learn from them. Therefore, I will not be responding to anymore of your foolish and outright rude attacks on Christianity, my family, my character or my looks.

Please FIND something better to do with your time rather than waste my time or my reader's time.

Please QUIT reading my blog if it causes you such grief. It is my hope that each time you leave one of your blasphemous comments against our Lord who created you;that you will have taken the time to actually read through and absorb the post in which you are so quick to criticize. You never know what you might learn if you open your heart.

May God Bless You, Remember He created you in His image and he loves you!

Blessings,
Sarah Christensen

How passive - aggressive ! "God loves you" -- "I pray for you" .... What sick thinking ! so, -- what is my name that I have not revealed? WHAT ??? You are in a world of your own ( with some of your sheep- like friends. Can you not put forth an argument without quoting your ancient hocum "holy book" How lame ! Quote the quaran also if you will-- It is essentially the same. In your heart of hearts you do not pray for me --- You wish me dead. Admit it.

Big VOODOO going on here. WHY ??

Look, little girl - You seem to survive from quoting passages from YOUR holy book. Can't you converse like the rest of us humans ? When you go into Sears to buy an appliance is there an occasion where you would break into biblical verse ? You do this because you think that it elevates you. Something is very wrong with this. In your discourse you make yourself out to be superior to the common ( heathen ) person. Who are you to say ? But by circumstance you might be promoting the Talmud, the Quaran,or the the holy books of any of hundreds of other religions -- each of which thinks that theirs is the best.

I will only comment on this once in addressing the one or several persons who are personally attacking Sarah on her blog.
I would hope that you will understand that this blog is written by a military wife and mother who also happens to enjoy homemaking and is a Christian. This has been a wonderful way for family and friends to keep up with the activities of a military family on the move. For women with similar interests, it has also been a fun way to connect and share.
The term "military" should be understood. Our country has been at war for 10 years. This family family has endured separations and concerns for the safety of our loved one and his friends for a few years. I beg you to have some compassion, respect, and tolerance for my son and his wife. This is a blog about a military wife/mom. If you have different spiritual beliefs, it should not have to lead to such personal attacks.
