We thank you for taking the time to visit our blog.

My husband and I are a young, growing, Christian, military family. My husband is a Captain in The United States Marine Corps. I am a former Elementary school teacher. We are first time parents to a beautiful little two year old boy, with twin boys on the way! I am a stay at home Marine wife, who loves to bake, cook, sew and craft! I enjoy being a Domestic Engineer. The purpose of this blog is to document the story of our life and adventures as they take place.

We are honored to be serving our country and ask for prayer in our upcoming adventures. We have been blessed tremendously, and thank God everyday for all he has given us!

The Last Payment

A few years ago some friends of ours introduced us to Dave Ramsey and his idea of debt free living. We were intrigued by the principles and were already pretty much following Mr. Ramsey's ideas where our finances were involved. Dave Ramsey would be proud of us because . . .

Last night, Rich and I made our very last payment on our car!!!! We purchased our Jeep in 2009 and thought we would NEVER see the day when we were car payment free!! My husband drives an old 1969 Volkswagen Square back. He is in the process of re-furbishing it to it's original condition. We have never had a car payment before purchasing our Jeep. Every month, for the past three years we have watched our car loan go down.  Well my friends, today is that day.  We are one step closer to living a debt free life, because we now outright own both of our cars and we did it all on our own! Our goal is to never have a car payment again. That means buying used and saving the difference as the Duggars say. :)

. . now we just have to focus on getting some student loans paid off.

Although spring has sprung around here, today was a bit chilly down by the beach. Robbie and I spent most of the day in our pajamas baking bread and strawberry jam!

Did I tell you I got a bread maker??? I did! I have wanted one for years and the other day while thrift shopping, I found one!!!! A really nice one, from a very clean women's league thrift store!  I have been a bread making fool!!

I am trying to make a loaf of bread every week. It tastes so much better than store bought and it's cheaper too!
Here we are making bread this morning. I realized after the fact that I am not completely in the picture! haha I guess that's what happens when you take it yourself!

And here is my little helper folding laundry with me! He is going to make a GREAT hubby someday!

Here is today's recipe if any of you have bread makers and are interested!

Banana Bread

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 2 hours

Total Time: 2 hours, 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3-cup butter
  • 1 ounce (1/8 cup) milk
  • 2 Bananas, medium, mashed
  • 1-1/3 cups bread flour
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1-1/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2-teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2-teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Preparation:

Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature. Measure eggs, butter, milk and bananas into the bread pan and set aside. In a medium-mixing bowl, combine the remaining dry ingredients. Mix well and add to the bread pan. Use Quick Bread setting for your machine.

Have a blessed day!

CONGRATULATIONS on paying off your car!!! It feels so good right? Last year Kyle and I managed to pay both of our cars off! We bought both of them used, and paid Kyle's mustang off in 2 years and my truck off in less than a year and a half!!! It's so nice to have another load off your back! We are now working on Kyle and I's school loans.....we hope to have those paid off by the end of this year too. Unfortunately, it will be because Kyle is deploying once, maybe twice this year :( so we will be saving the money from his deployments.

So happy for you to have one less thing to worry about! Robert is just too cute, and looks like he is a big help!! Now I need to focus on training my little guy to do laundry! ha! Miss you girl!
