We thank you for taking the time to visit our blog.

My husband and I are a young, growing, Christian, military family. My husband is a Captain in The United States Marine Corps. I am a former Elementary school teacher. We are first time parents to a beautiful little two year old boy, with twin boys on the way! I am a stay at home Marine wife, who loves to bake, cook, sew and craft! I enjoy being a Domestic Engineer. The purpose of this blog is to document the story of our life and adventures as they take place.

We are honored to be serving our country and ask for prayer in our upcoming adventures. We have been blessed tremendously, and thank God everyday for all he has given us!

What's Your Favorite?

This morning, while making breakfast, I thought of a fun Christmas /"Teach Me Tuesday" post. So now it's time for a little questions and answer game. . .

What's Your Favorites ?
 Christmas Edition

1. What is your all time FAVORITE Christmas song?

2. What is your most favorite Christmas cookie?

3. Do you prefer colored Christmas lights or clear?

4. Are you an early bird Christmas shopper who has all of their gifts purchased before November, or are you a late shopper out fighting the crowds on Christmas Eve?

5. What is your favorite Christmas movie?

Here are my answers to the above questions. I would love to hear your answers. leave a comment. :)

1. My favorite Christmas song is Have A Holly Jolly Christmas with Burl Ives. It reminds me of my childhood. Whenever I here this song, the Christmas season comes to a start in my mind. Click and listen below.

2. My favorite Christmas cookie is what we in my family call Grandma Vera's Christmas Nut Ball Cookies. This cookie is known by many different names in many different cultures. The Latin countries call it a Mexican Wedding Cookie, The Russian call it a Russian Tea Cookie. To me, it just isn't Christmas without these delightful little sugary cookies.
Here is my Grandma's  Recipe for her Christmas Nut balls.

Grandma Vera's Christmas Nut Ball Cookies

1 cup of sifted flour
1/2 cup of butter
2 teaspoons of sugar
1 cup of chopped walnuts
1 teaspoon of good vanilla
2 cups of Confectioners sugar ( powdered sugar)
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together EXCEPT powdered sugar.
Form into balls
Place onto an ungreased cookie sheet
Space 1/2 inch apart
Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes
Cool on a rack for 2 hours Roll the balls in the powdered sugar 2 tines
place in a box(Tin is Great)
They are ready to eat!! :)

Colored Lights
3. I LOVE the colored Christmas lights! I am putting my outdoor lights up today! :)

4. Sadly, I am not an early bird Christmas shopper. I'm not a Christmas Eve gal either. I just LOVE to do my Christmas shopping during the Christmas season when all the lights are up and the malls are decorated for Christmas! :)

5. My ALL time Favorite Christmas movie is "Little Women" ! I have read the book and have watched the movie every year with my Mom for as long as I can remember! I like the new version of the movie best! :)

Well Friends, I can't wait to hear your answers! I hope you are well into The Christmas season celebrating with good food, family, friends and joy.

I leave you today with a little video clip of my joy! :) My little one  dancing with his Grandma and filled with the joy of Christmas. There is nothing quite like the laugh of a child.

Blessings,

I thought my silly dancing with Robbie was private. I guess it is okay, (the things a grandparent will do for a grandbaby!!!)

1. I have 3 favorite songs: Holly Jolly Christmas: because you would dance to it since you were 8 months old. Haul Out The Holly, because your dad used to play it on our record player each year as I decorated the tree, and Heirlooms, because it was your first solo. You sang it at a concert while grandpa was at home dying. You made the song so real for me. You could not have given me a better gift(my sweet Sarah!) Oh, one more, Angels We Have Heard On High, Oh Heck! I LOVE them ALL!!!!!
2. Cookie? Anything CHOCOLATE (milk chocolate only) and Grandma Vera's Nut Balls.
3. I like both colored and white lights. I favor faceted colored lights!
4. I'm not a big shopper. I make most of my gifts. I am so behind this year. Christmas really came too quickly for me. I think the stores forced capitalism way too quickly. Soon we will have Christmas at Halloween. Some years, I am painting, knitting all night before Christmas. I always try to start my creations in August, but somehow I never get finished. I promised myself no stress this year, whatever gets done is whatever will be.
Great questions! I would enjoy hearing what others have to say, do tell???
5. Movies: yes, I have 3 favorites: It's a Wonderful Life, Little Women, and A Christmas Carol.
