I Give You The Christensen Family Christmas Tree

I love the movie Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase. In fact, Rich and I spend most of the month of December quoting scenes from the movie to each other!
Well, this year Rich really pulled a Clark Griswold ! Rich picked out our Christmas tree and it truly is a Griswold Tree!

Let me go into a little more detail and fill you  in on the back story. We live on a Marine Corps base. We received a notification a few weeks ago saying that all of the Marines in Rich's unit were able to receive a free Christmas tree. The trees would range from  6 to 8 feet in height.
Can you imagine my surprise?

So, on Saturday morning, Rich went on his own to pick up our freshly cut Christmas tree. I thought our living room would best accommodate a 6 foot tree. Once Rich got to the tree lot he said they asked him to stand in either the 6 , 7 or 8 foot tree line. Can you guess where this is going? ? ?

Yep, Rich came home with this!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An EIGHT foot beauty!! haha :)

When I asked Rich if they ran out of 6 foot trees or even 7 foot trees he responded with a simple; "No, I just figured I couldn't pass down an 8 foot Christmas tree being offered to me. Come on Sarah, go big or go home."

Just another reason why I love  this guy! So, after much shuffling and re-arranging of furniture, I present to you, The Christensen Family Christmas Tree! :) She's Perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rich holding Robbie up and helping him put his first ornament on the tree.

Robbie, looking in amazement at all the pretty lights on the tree!

This is how I found Robbie this morning.
Just when he thought I wasn't looking, he tried to take an ornament off the tree.

And There He Goes!

Got it!

Hey Mama when did you get here and how much did you see?
I find eclectic, mismatched, meaningful Christmas ornaments to be so warm and charming! When I was a little girl, my Mother always had a tree that was beautiful and inviting. In fact, to this day she still has every ornament on her tree that I made for her. Macaroni star and all.

I love looking at other peoples ornaments displayed on their tree. Each ornament tells it's own beautiful story. Don't you agree? Here are just a few of my favorite ornaments that warm our Christmas tree.
This ornament was given to my parents when they got married. It was the first ornament on their tree.

This was given to Rich and me when we first were engaged. It is our first ornament!

My Aunt Becky bought this ornament for Robert's first Christmas.

Aunt Becky also gave this to us on top of our Christmas present the first year we were married.

I lam a huge fan of the  daytime talk show; The Chew! Yesterday, the hosts showed how to make your own Christmas ornaments for a little amount! Check it out! :)

Don't you just love Christmas ?!?!

Happy Decorating!

I love this, Sarah! Your tree is beautiful! I understand little ones going for the ornaments when we are looking...or they don't think we are. LOL I have a three year old and an eight year old, both boys, and they both did it. LOL

I started keeping the non-breakable ones on the bottom portion of the tree...just in case.

I remember my brothers pulling our huge tree over on themselves when we were growing up...what a crash! But what a memory!

Anyway...I am rambling! Sorry! I love the ornaments. We do that too! Special ornaments with meaning are the best!

Thanks for sharing it with us!

Unwrapping His Grace,

Mary Joy
