We thank you for taking the time to visit our blog.

My husband and I are a young, growing, Christian, military family. My husband is a Captain in The United States Marine Corps. I am a former Elementary school teacher. We are first time parents to a beautiful little two year old boy, with twin boys on the way! I am a stay at home Marine wife, who loves to bake, cook, sew and craft! I enjoy being a Domestic Engineer. The purpose of this blog is to document the story of our life and adventures as they take place.

We are honored to be serving our country and ask for prayer in our upcoming adventures. We have been blessed tremendously, and thank God everyday for all he has given us!

Show Us Your Life " What Do You Know About Marriage ?"

It's Friday and I'm linking-up with Kelly at Kelly's Korner. Today's topic: Marriage Advice. Marriage Advice???? Hmm, I feel a little funny giving marriage advice when I have only been married for three years. However, I will willingly share with you all what I have learned in my three years as a wife. :)

I truly believe it is most important in a marriage to make your relationship a top priority, but second in line to your relationship with the Lord. It is so vital to build your marriage upon the word of the Lord.

My husband is my best friend. We are high school sweethearts and have known each other for eleven years!!! Rich truly knows all of my strengths and weaknesses and I know his. I pray that I will become an encouragement to my husband, his cheerleader when times are going well. As well as an ear to listen when times are rough.

As a wife, I believe it is crucial that we allow our husbands to lead! I believe that as a society we put men down and often emasculate them to our friends, children and families. Just look at most television commercials. In society we often portray the man as the "big, dumb Dad". As wives we need to ask the Lord to touch our husband's heart and help him to lead according to the Lord. We need to make the husband the head of the house again.

On the same note, I believe it is important for husbands to love their wives and listen to the natural instincts that the Lord has provided us with as wives and mothers. It truly is a perfect working formula, if we would only practice it. I am convicting myself here as well. :)

Oh, and how could I forget this little sweet pea! Our new little boy, Robert. As soon as we had Robert (this past May), I knew our life and marriage would never be the same. In a GOOD, HEALTHY way. I never loved my husband more than the day I gave birth to this little boy. Rich was wonderful! He was by my side through it all, actively involved. He will NEVER know how much it meant to me to have him by my side strong and supportive.

Now that we have this precious little boy I want to make sure we do everything we can to set him on the right path. It starts with us. We must show him what it means to be in aloving marriage.

Finally, I believe it is important to keep "your marriage", YOUR MARRIAGE!!! I don't believe in airing my dirty laundry, so to speak. When you begin to involve others in your marriage such as children, parents, friends it will only cause you grief in the end. It breaks the trust factor between you and your husband. Oh and don't forget, be the kind of wife you would want for your son. Treat your husband how you would want your son's wife to treat him. :)

Well, that's all she wrote folks! Take of it what you will. I'm looking forward to reading a more seasoned wife's response! :)

Blessings,

Believe me, I am seasoned! 36 years worth, and you, my darling daughter; came from the best season of my marriage!
My unwarranted advice: BE EQUALLY YOKED!
Keep God first for His perfect guidance, your husband 2nd, and your EGO 3rd. If your husband follows the same; you will both share equal priority. Become each other's "EZRA KENEGDOES"
Hebrew: meaning equal and whole, combined helpmates. Rescue each other always, and stay counterparts = 2 parts joined together to make a strong hold glued by God's glue = His word!
Let NO cracks or people come between you.
I love you and I am a cheerleader for your marriage always (and your prayer warrior)
Mom, Robin

I am a seasoned wife! I have been married over 30 years...23 of those years our marriage was bad but the past 8 years have been wonderful. I write a blog training younger women to love their husbands. You sound like you are doing it right. Keep it up and may God bless your beautiful family as you seek to follow Him.
