We thank you for taking the time to visit our blog.

My husband and I are a young, growing, Christian, military family. My husband is a Captain in The United States Marine Corps. I am a former Elementary school teacher. We are first time parents to a beautiful little two year old boy, with twin boys on the way! I am a stay at home Marine wife, who loves to bake, cook, sew and craft! I enjoy being a Domestic Engineer. The purpose of this blog is to document the story of our life and adventures as they take place.

We are honored to be serving our country and ask for prayer in our upcoming adventures. We have been blessed tremendously, and thank God everyday for all he has given us!

In My Little Corner Of The World . .

Ahh, the sweet serenity of "The Front Porch Swing Life". Doesn't it just sound wonderful? I want to be able to sit out on my front porch swing on a warm summer's evening while sipping on a glass of fresh squeezed lemonade as I read a good book. Perhaps I'll read one of the classics as I listen to the sound of my children playing and laughing in the yard.
We have all heard the timeless saying; "Home is where the heart is." Jane Austen said; "There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort." Perhaps, it is because I am a military wife and so often "home" to military wives is truly, "where the military sends us". In the four years that I have been married to my husband, "home" has been something we can quickly set-up , break down and keep in our hearts. Home to us has been, California, Virgina and Florida.

My husband and I often talk about where we hope to one day settle down and plant our roots for our family. We are both native Californians. We love California for it's weather, beautiful scenery and of course the most important characteristic of California . . . our families are here.  But, I would be lying if I told you that we are not considering other areas of the country to purchase a home and lay down roots for our family.

You see, Rich and I have a vision for our family. It is a vision we have both shared since we were seventeen yeas old and in high school.

We want a large family (Lord willing), that we can raise and grow on a property with large enough land for our children to run and play freely. Throw a few cats, a vegetable garden, fruit trees (so I can make and can my own jams/ preserves), a front porch swing and perhaps some chickens in the mix and you've got our ideal home! It is our hope and prayer as a family to create a safe place that grows our family through morality, Biblical parenting, wholesome values and natural living.
Here I am making fresh blueberry jam in Florida.

Our cat Maverick enjoying the good life!

The chickens we hope to someday have.
We have not ruled out California in our plans for a future home, but we have our concerns with some aspects of the state.

It is our goal and objective "to raise vintage kids in a modern world". You know . . . children who live in the world but are not of the world. A task that seems hard to comprehend in a society that is so obsessed with such pretentious things as; looks, money, education, career and keeping up with
"The Joneses ".

We do consider moving out of state. Here are some of the states on our radar; California, Washington State/ Spokane area, Virginia, North Carolina ( Hickory, Charlotte area, really open to anywhere in NC), Pennsylvania, Texas and Ohio.

I have taken notice that many of YOU, my dear readers are from some of these fine sates and areas of our wonderful country. So, sweet friends, I am hoping that you will be so kind as to share which state and city you are from and why you love your state? Or perhaps what you don't like? My husband and I would LOVE your recommendations!! Please comment. :)

We look forward to hearing your ideas!
Blessings,

I'm saying NOVA or Georgia. Lane and I are from the Atlanta area and I miss it terribly. I loved living so close to DC when we were up that way. Both are great places to just pick up and decide what you want to do on a whim and there's always something going on, but you don't have to be in the heart of it if you don't want to! Ah....but then there's the humidity...

My name is Allison and I'm an AF wife. We are both from the mountains of NC and we LOVE IT there. We plan on going back one day. The great thing about it is the small town feel and the Southern hospitality. Everyone looks out for everyone and it is so beautiful most people call it Gods Country.

I'm from Hickory, NC. I love the family-oriented feel of this city and being so close to the mountains. It's a beautiful place to be and raise a family. :)
