Rainy Day Pancakes and An Old Milk Pail...

Yesterday, was a rainy Southern California day. Which I must say, has been a much welcomed change from the 90 degree weather we were having during the month of February! Say what you will, I love to experience the seasons... or at least some change in season. Whenever we have cold, gray, rainy days, my heart feels warm and full!

I did manage to take the boys out for a bit to do a Sonic drink run...Happy Hour!!

Before we go on, I have to talk about this selfie for a minute...

For some reason, Rich doesn't like when I wear my hair in a half up messy bun! haha! He doesn't come on out and say he hates it, but I know it annoys him! So, being the loving wife that I am, I sent him a few photos of my half up messy bun in the morning!

Now, back to my story...

Well, yesterday was one of those days. The kids were up early and I just knew we would spend most of the day bunked down inside the house with movies, games and probably way more screen time than any one child should experience within a day. I decided to lift the spirits of my boys by starting the morning off right... with pancakes of course!

Robbie was so excited and anxious to help in any way he could! Now, I have done this once or twice before and I know, that like clockwork, when little ones, "help" in the kitchen, it almost always equates to a big old mess for Mama! For some reason, today, that didn't matter. I think the older I get and the more children I have, the more tolerance and appreciation I have for messes.
Messes= Memories . Oh,  did I mention... Boys=Messes :)

Lately, Robbie has been really into the old Donald Duck /Chip N' Dale cartoons. The whole time we prepared the pancakes, he sang,

Mama's little baby loves short'nin', short'nin'

Mama's little baby loves short'nin' bread."

I think he heard Donald Duck sing this song in the famous Pancake cartoon. You know, the one that makes your tummy rumble and makes you think if you don't get a pancake soon you *will* die? Yeah, that one!

Taking that hour out of our morning to make pancakes together was worth it's weight in gold! I loved our bonding time together, singing at the top of our lungs making pancakes in our pajamas! What a great way to start off a rainy Monday morning!

Can we take a moment to swoon over the new KitchenAid mixer my parents gave to me for Christmas?!

Okay, let's talk old milk pails for a minute.

My best friend, Summer and her husband Robert, have Rich and me hooked on a new HGTV program.

Okay, so Summer has room for two Roberts in her life. The way my little boy sees it, there is him, Summer's # 1 Robert.

Oh yeah, and then there's this guy... her  husband. :)
Robbie has a bit of a crush on his Auntie Summer and has only recently accepted the fact that she is, in fact, married now! :)

So back to the show, it's not really new, but it's new to us and now... we are OBSESSED!! Like can't wait to get the kids in bed, grab a treat and settle into an evening of Chip and JoJo on Netflix OBSESSED!

I'm talking about the hit HGTV show, Fixer Upper and the amazing Chip and Joanna Gaines!!!

Thanks Summer, now all I can think about is HOW and WHEN I can take out a wall in our house.  I'm finding about a MILLION reason to make a farmhouse table for our kitchen!!! Oh, did I mention, I feel like we need a few chickens now?! ;) ha! Or, maybe we just need to move to TEXAS!!! And ya'll know about my love affair with Texas over the years. Love the people, love the state!

This evening, I was chatting with Summer on the phone about what else.... FIXER UPPER! Summer mentioned that she and her husband went antiquing this past weekend and she fell in love with an old milk pail for her home. Can't blame a girl for that...right?

Anyway, after debating in her mind whether or not she should purchase the adorable pail, she finally decided against the purchase and went about her day. Well, later in the week her sweet hubby surprised her with what else... the antique milk pail!!  She sent me a picture of this famous milk pail and now that she has made me fall in love with it, I simply feel that I can not live without one too!! haha

Let's just say we have a couples antiquing day tentatively on the books! I'm sure the hubsters will LOVE it!!  Don't ya think?

Well, that's it for tonight ladies and gents! In all honesty, Rich and  I are about to settle in and watch... what else... Fixer Upper!

NIGHT YA'LL!
look at me gone all Texan on you now.  ;)  !
